There is no other race quite like the Isle of Man TT, the annual cross-country motorcycle sporting event held in the state of the British Isles. The venue, a 37-plus mile mountain course considered as one of the most challenging tracks in the world dotted with a  series of bends, jumps, poles, and walls. There are different categories for entries based on the bike specifications. The tickets are priced between 3 and 60 pounds, the highest being for the Mad Sunday race. The races are held over a span of two weeks, and this year, it is scheduled to begin on 27th of May, and end on the 9th of June.

With over 100 years of history, the first race was organised in the early 1900s. It was renamed as the Isle of Man TT Festival from 1989 onwards after the popularity it gained and grew to become a racing culture. A race that boasts such a rich tradition that it’s winners are believed to be placed among the Gods; to have your name inscribed on the prestigious TT trophy is an absolute honour.

Exceptional racing coupled with some world-class entertainment and amenities, this festival attracts a large number of people from all over the globe who come to witness this marvel set amongst the scenic backdrop of the Isles.

For the bike lovers

Starting from the city of Douglas, the Snaefell Mountain course, which is the oldest racing circuit, is where the races take place. Superbikes ranging from 750cc to 1200cc with as many as 2 to 4 cylinder 4-strokes compete in this festival. Based on various specifications, the race classes include Superbikes, Supersports and stocks, Lightweights and newer additions like Sidecar TT, Senior TT, and TT Zero.

One of the main reasons why 30,000 people from around the globe visit this festival, is the Mad Sunday! The experience is said to be surreal with the race track open to the public; thousands of people on their bikes, excited to venture onto the 38-mile course with no speed limits, obviously. The TT racing spectacle enraptures the audience with its sheer brilliance and uniqueness making it a world-renowned race like no other.

Two weeks of biking nirvana is what it is called amongst bikers who come down to enjoy each other’s company. They do what they love the most, ride for miles together as fast as they want to.
